A New Book on Tatting

Two books on tatting lace have been published last month. And this is the one of them.
FUJISHIGE Sumi's _Kurashi no Naka no Tatting Lace (Tatting Lace in Everyday Life)_.

All the patterns were already published previously but the books are out of print now. So, if you have FUJISHIGE's old books around 1990s, you may not need this one.

There are 9 doilies including small ones in this book as well as edgings, accessories (2 collars and some necklaces), motifs, and collages.

I've made a small doily from this. In the book, this doily is used as a decoration on a small pouch.
All the works are made with Olympus threads but I don't have white one so I used DMC Cordonnet Specail #40 in Blanc.
I usually use bobbin shuttles; I used a clover shuttle this time. My first tatting lace book was written by FUJISHIGE and at that time, only shuttle I could buy was clover's. It's a sense of nostalgia.
And you know, clovers shuttles are very good, too.

A New Book and A New Shuttle

A new tatting lace book was published last month. If you translate the title, it would be _Tatting Lace: Accessories and Small Stuffs_ or something like that. Most of the works in this book are motifs. As you can see from the face of it, some motifs are turned into accessories as well. Some patterns call for SCMR and Cluney-like techniques.

I made a square motif from this book. I used Lisbeth #40 154, Wildflower Garden. I tatted it with a shuttle and a ball with SCMR.

To tat this motif, I used my new tatting shuttle. It's a new colour of Clover's tatting shuttle, milk.

So many new products make me scream with joy.

The Last is the Best

To me, at least.

I bought a new tatting lace book by MORIMOTO Kazuko.

Unfortunately, you can't see inside of this book if you follow the link above. What a shame. I wonder if they want to sell their products (books, in this case) seriously and desperately.

I'm sure I will blog about this book later. It's midnight now and I'm going to see Spamalot after I get up.

Knitting Rules the World

That what it means, I thought at first. And I'd believed so until I started reading this book : Knitting Rules! by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka Yarn Harlot.
But, hey, doesn't it sound wonderful? Knitting Rules the World. Knitting Rules the Universe!

Now I'm around the middle of the book. This book is about the rules of knitting, not about the things that are ruled by knitting. I've already read two books by her and really enjoyed reading them. I love to read the books on what I care for. Most of the books on knittings are pattern books. I love knitting patterns, but also I want to read about knitting. And her books really meets my need.

Read a Mystery Book on Handcraft

Finished reading Crewel World by Monica Ferris. Amazon recommended me this book and I bought it with other knitting books.
It was easy for an auslander like me to read. It takes less than a week to finish that book and that's amazingly fast for me. I'm not good at English, you know.

The story takes place in a small city in Minesota, near the Twin Cities. There came a lady to visit her sister who runs a handcraft shop name Crewel World in that city. And this shopowner is murdered.

As a foretelling mystery reader, I'd like a reversal or two in the end, but it was interesting to read it. Oh, I'd like to make it sure. I'm not a big fan of mystery novels since all I've read are some Sherlock Holmes, some Miss Marple (I'd rather prefer Miss Marple than Poirot), some Drury Lane (Again, I'd rather prefer Mr. Lane than Mr. Queen), other American mysteries, and some domestic novels.

And here comes Knit One, Kill Two soon.
